摘要:This article examines the effects of unemployment compensation when the size of the labor force depends on unemployment benefits. The analysis is based on an aggregate model with search and matching in which unemployment compensation affects the wage determination process and the number of jobs and workers. 摘要:This article uses data from the 1986 Canadian Family Expenditures Survey to estimate a life-cycle-consistent model of household labor supply and commodity demand that incorporates a mortgage qualification constraint based on earnings. 摘要:I construct an equilibrium search model where some employers have a distaste for hiring minority workers and show that this bias results in economic discrimination against minority workers. By focusing on cohort composition rather than cohort size, it offers new links between demographic change and economic outcomes. 摘要:This article uses the 1970, 1980, and 1990 Public Use Samples of the U.S. census to document what happened to immigrant earnings in the 1980s and to determine if pre-1980 immigrant flows reached earnings parity with natives. The relative entry wage of successive immigrant cohorts declined by 9% in the 1970s and by an additional 6% in the 1980s.
