摘要:The enzyme UDP- glucose: glycoprotein glucosyltransferase (UGGT) is the gatekeeper of protein folding within the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). One- third of the human proteome traverses the ER where folding and maturation are facilitated by a complex protein homeostasis network. 摘要:Cell-matrix interactions in 3D environments significantly differ from those in 2D cultures. As such, mechanisms of mechanotransduction in 2D cultures are not necessarily applicable to cell- encapsulating hydrogels that resemble features of tissue architecture. 摘要:We show that the globally invasive, human- infectious flatworm, Haplorchis pumilio, possesses the most physically specialized soldier caste yet documented in trematodes. 摘要:As cells age, they undergo a remarkable global change: In transcriptional drift, hundreds of genes become overexpressed while hundreds of others become underexpressed. Using archetype modeling and Gene Ontology analysis on data from aging Caenorhabditis elegans worms, we find that the up-regulated genes code for sensory proteins upstream of stress responses and down-regulated genes are growth- and metabolism-related. 摘要:Neuropeptides (NPs) and their cognate receptors are critical effectors of diverse physiological processes and behaviors. We recently reported of a noncanonical function of the Drosophila Glucose- 6- Phosphatase (G6P) gene in a subset of neurosecretory cells in the central nervous system that governs systemic glucose homeostasis in food- deprived flies.
