摘要:We use regulatory data on the foreign claims and liabilities of global banks with U.S. operations to study how multinational lenders respond to large natural disasters abroad. Our difference-in-difference estimates show that, on average, international banks do not increase their lending to countries after destructive disasters that should increase the demand for funds. 摘要:We use a quantitative international trade model with climate policies to explore the distributional effects of carbon pricing across countries. Our analysis addresses two key questions facing global climate action: which countries bear the greatest burden of climate policies, and how these policies can be designed to ensure fairness. 摘要:Exporters frequently change their set of destination markets. This paper proposes a new approach to identifying the underlying drivers of changes in exporters' market decisions over time. The approach exploits information on price and quantity changes in firms' continuing markets to disentangle the micro shocks that drive firms' market changes.
