摘要:Studies investigating the relationship between executive compensation and firm performance, firm size, or both have had consistently low explanatory power. The present study uses Forbes data for 1983-89 and shows that nonparametric models, comparing the ranks of firms within industries, more accurately reflect changes in CEO compensation. There was no support for a linear relationship between performance and such changes but strong support for an increasing, convex relationship.

摘要:This study examined how small firms differ in their competitive behaviors from their large rivals in an industry and explored the implications of differences for performance. Data on competitive moves and countermoves exchanged by major U.S. airlines supported the predicted differences. 摘要:This article presents the results of two experiments that investigated fairness and apparent fairness in ultimatum negotiations. Results suggest that offerers-those presenting offers-were bath strategic and exploitative: they made offers that appeared fair only when respondents (potential recipients) had full information about the amounts to be divided or when third parties labeled offers as to their fairness. 摘要:In an extension of research on organizational socialization, the relationship between previous work experience and the tasks and outcomes of the socialization process was examined using a longitudinal field design. The importance of measuring socialization variables longitudinally, beginning at organizational entry, was highlighted. Implications for future research are discussed.

摘要:Relief services provided by corporations to employees following a natural disaster were expected to be associated with reduced levels of employee strains. Data from 143 hurricane victims partially supported this prediction, revealing that tangible support meeting employees' primary needs had the most numerous effects over the course of the disaster aftermath.

摘要:This study examined the sequential entry process of Japanese electronic manufacturing firms into the United States during the period 1976-89. The firms first entered their core businesses and those in which they had a strong competitive advantage over local firms to reduce the hazard of failure. 摘要:The reported research examined the usefulness of placing risk propensity and risk perception in a more central role in models of risky decision making than has been done previously, Specifically, this article reports on two studies that examined a model in which risk propensity and risk perception mediate the effects of problem framing and outcome history on risky decision-making behavior, Implications of the pattern of results for future research are discussed.
