摘要:Propionic acidaemia is a rare disorder caused by defects in the propionyl-coenzyme A carboxylase alpha or beta (PCCA or PCCB) subunits that leads to an accumulation of toxic metabolites and to recurrent, life-threatening metabolic decompensation events. Here we report interim analyses of a first-in-human, phase 1/2, open-label, dose-optimization study and an extension study evaluating the safety and efficacy of mRNA-3927, a dual mRNA therapy encoding PCCA and PCCB. As of 31 May 2023, 16 partic...

摘要:Empirical evidence suggests that heat exposure reduces food intake. However, the neurocircuit architecture and the signalling mechanisms that form an associative interface between sensory and metabolic modalities remain unknown, despite primary thermoceptive neurons in the pontine parabrachial nucleus becoming well characterized(1). Tanycytes are a specialized cell type along the wall of the third ventricle(2) that bidirectionally transport hormones and signalling molecules between the brain's...

摘要:Insects constitute the most species-rich radiation of metazoa, a success that is due to the evolution of active flight. Unlike pterosaurs, birds and bats, the wings of insects did not evolve from legs1, but are novel structures that are attached to the body via a biomechanically complex hinge that transforms tiny, high-frequency oscillations of specialized power muscles into the sweeping back-and-forth motion of the wings2. The hinge consists of a system of tiny, hardened structures called scl...
