摘要:This paper takes a fresh look at organizational governance. Using qualitative methods and an interpretive perspective, the authors provide a thick description of the interplay between a large nonprofit organization's board of directors and top managers. Their account highlights the role of organizational dramaturgy and identity in shaping directors' behaviors.

It is an example of MESO theory development which bridges subfields of organization theory with research on individual ethical behavior, and it presents a compelling theoretical framework for the idea that the design of the organization can have profound implications for the moral and ethical behavior of organization members.
