摘要:This study examines the role of a chief executive officer's hubris, or exaggerated self-confidence, in explaining the large size of some premiums paid for acquisitions. In a sample of 106 large acquisitions, we found that four indicators of CEO hubris are highly associated with the size of premiums paid: the acquiring company's recent performance, recent media praise for the CEO, a measure of the CEO's self-importance, and a composite factor of these three variables. 摘要:This study represents one of the first quantitative field tests of the sunk-cost effect. We tested whether the amount teams spent for players in the National Basketball Association (NEA) influenced how much playing time players got and how long they stayed with NEA franchises. 摘要:This paper presents a refined test of the institutional, political, and economic accounts of adoption of the multidivisional form (MDF) among large U.S. industrial corporations in the 1960s, most notably by elaborating the institutional account. Results suggest that institutional processes, including coercive and normative dynamics, substantially underpinned the MDF's diffusion during the 1960s.
