摘要:Two major approaches to examining the relationship between organizational configurations and performance are found in the strategic management literature. The first, rooted in the concept of strategic groups, is inductive and focuses on a posteriori examinations of industry-specific configurations and their relative performance. 摘要:Similarities in financial resource allocations across the lines of business of diversified firms may indicate corporate strategic consistency, which may lead to superior corporate performance. In support of this argument, the variance in R&D intensity across the lines of business of 96 diversified firms was found to be inversely related to industry-adjusted return on assets. 摘要:This study assessed the relations among social pressures favoring unions, job satisfaction, perceptions of union instrumentality, and individuals' voter behavior using covariance structure analysis. Job satisfaction and union instrumentality were measured prior to and following union certification elections. 摘要:A 1990 review of the research on the validity of integrity-honesty tests performed by the U.S. Congress's office of Technology Assessment found no studies conducted by independent researchers in which detected theft was used as the criterion. In the first such study, we found that scores on an honesty test successfully predicted detected theft for a group of convenience store employees. No significant differences on the test emerged as a function of race, gender, or age.

摘要:Structural equation modeling was used to evaluate the effects of three forms of attitudinal commitment on employee turnover. We used a traditional dichotomous measure of organizational departure but applied the PRELIS technique to resolve statistical problems. 摘要:This study examined the extent to which the presence of representatives of financial institutions on firms' boards of directors affected borrowing decisions. Through a time-series analysis of 22 large U.S. manufacturing firms from 1956 through 1983, we found that the types of financial institutions represented on firms' boards were associated with the amounts and types of financing the firms obtained.

摘要:This study examined influences on whether chief executive successors are chosen from inside or outside an organization. We examined the choice of a successor as a function of organizational performance as moderated by the composition of an organization's board of directors and its ownership structure.
