摘要：Digital loans area source of fast, short-term credit for millions of people. While digital credit broadens market access and reduces frictions, default rates are high. We study the role of the speed of delivery of digital loans on repayment. Our study uses unique administrative data from a digital lender in Mexico and a regression- discontinuity design. 摘要：We document that oil-producing areas of Brazil experienced increases in crime during the period of increased economic growth driven by the 2000s oil boom. This challenges the understanding that the impact of income shocks on crime is driven primarily by the legal status of the market in question. 摘要：We study whether perceptions of labor market competition negatively influence out-group attitudes between refugees and their local hosts using a survey vignette experiment conducted in urban and rural Ethiopia and Uganda. 摘要：Scholars and politicians have expressed concern that immigrants from countries with low levels of political trust transfer those attitudes to their destination countries. 摘要：We find that women sorting into lower paying firms explains nearly half of the gender pay gap in South Using matched employer-employee panel data covering the universe of formal workers, we show sorting considerably over the life cycle: the firm-pay gender gap is negligible for the youngest workers, grows for 25-35 year olds (i.e. typical child-rearing years), and narrows for older workers. 摘要：This paper uses a novel dataset on ethnic warfare to shed light on how conflict affects social identification and cohesion. A large body of anecdotal studies suggests that ethnic identities become more salient at times of conflict. Using data from thirty-six African countries, I provide econometric evidence to this notion.
