摘要：Cross-country labor productivity differences are larger in agriculture than in non-agriculture. We propose a new explanation for these patterns in which the self-selection of heterogeneous workers determines sector productivity. We formalize our theory in a general-equilibrium Roy model in which preferences feature a subsistence food requirement. 摘要：We use data on insurance deductible choices to estimate a structural model of risky choice that incorporates standard risk aversion (diminishing marginal utility for wealth) and probability distortions. We find that probability distortions- characterized by substantial overweighting of small probabilities and only mild insensitivity to probability changes-play an important role in explaining the aversion to risk manifested in deductible choices. 摘要：We use a simple theory of a system of cities to decompose the determinants of the city size distribution into three main components: efficiency, amenities, and frictions. Higher efficiency and better amenities lead to larger cities but also to greater frictions through congestion and other negative effects of agglomeration. 摘要：Authority and power permeate political, social, and economic life, but empirical knowledge about the motivational origins and consequences of authority is limited.
