摘要:Using factory-level data from a large multinational manufacturer, we examine the effects of both organizational experience and knowledge transfer on an increasingly critical environmental performance measure, the consumption of water required for manufacturing. We estimate the direct effects on water consumption from in-factory cumulative production experience and the vicarious learning from peer factories in the same product category. 摘要:We assess how a retailer can manage inventories and labor under an extreme condition such as a temporary negative demand shock due to a pandemic or an economic turmoil. This analysis incorporates labor market frictions whereby firms incur deadweight costs associated with hiring and firing employees, as well as the option to furlough labor. 摘要:We depart from the classic bundling literature on single-unit purchases and develop a multi-unit demand model in which customers decide both the variety and volume of their purchased products. We integrate product bundling with two commonly used usage-based pricing schemes in the service industry, pay-per-use and subscriptions, and examine pricing tactics that span both variety and usage. 摘要:We study two competing firms' incentives for demand information sharing and their production timing strategies. 摘要:Fashion sellers are sometimes critiqued for selling low durability products, resulting in waste. Blame is also directed at consumers, who purchase new fashions despite having accumulated a closet full of prior fashions. 摘要:This study aims to extend the existing climate-change-induced flood mitigation research. We introduce an at-risk network to evaluate optimal cost-benefit strategies for creating dikes and levees to mitigate flood hazard over multiple years. Our proposed model includes the expected flood costs, estimated using possible climate-change-induced sea-level states throughout the planning horizon, and the investment costs for developing dikes and levees via land elevations across the at-risk network. ...

摘要:This paper studies how capacity collaboration can benefit two competing firms. We consider a two-stage model where capacity decisions are made in the first stage when there are significant uncertainties about market conditions, and then production decisions are made in the second stage after most of these uncertainties are resolved.
