摘要:Design of new organizational forms can begin with an analysis of existing organizational processes and identification of ways to change these process arrangements. Kevin Crowston applies coordination theory to show how task processes can be decomposed, documented, and altered to create new forms of organizing work. Crowston's research demonstrates the potential of coordination theory in the study of new organizational forms and process redesign.

摘要:This paper explores how multimarket theory challenges the normal assumptions of competition in individual markets. Using a sample of hospitals, the authors found that the degree to which competitors compete in similar markets has a negative effect on market exit. Organizations that contract for services and consequently face fewer internal barriers to exit are more likely to exit from service markets.

摘要:This paper links research streams on group theory involving and maintenance functions, on team recesses as intervening variables and on top management team structure and financial performance within different environmental contexts over time. The paper investigates the relationship between top management team structure (demography) and firm subsequent performance by developing and investigating an intervening group process model of the relationship between team structure and performance.

摘要:This paper addresses an important problem in health care management. It explores the theoretical relations among organizational and environmental characteristics and measures of efficiency and effectiveness. The paper develops need fulfillment as a measure of organization effectiveness. An interesting implication for organization theory is the findings that suggest that legitimacy does not enhance efficiency and that legitimacy and efficiency may be entirely independent variables.
