摘要:This justice-theory-based study of punishment surveyed supervisors and their disciplined subordinates about specific punishment events. Path analysis results suggested that two personality traits-belief in a just world and negative affectivity-were associated with the subordinates' perceptions of the events. 摘要:This study examined the relationship between individual, group, and organizational antecedent variables and strategic and political interpretations of key organizational issues. 摘要:It has been suggested that one reason so few women have been promoted to senior management positions is that during their careers they experience fewer developmental job opportunities than men. To test this idea, we surveyed male and female managers about developmental components in their current jobs. Results suggest that men experience some greater task-related developmental challenges, but women experience greater developmental challenges stemming from obstacles they face in their jobs.

摘要:Previous research has shown that disputants differ substantially in how they experience, or cognitively ''frame,'' conflict-even the same conflict. We explored the influence of cognitive frames on negotiation processes and outcomes. Results suggest that such frames significantly influence the processes and outcomes of conflict along three specific dimensions.

摘要:This study empirically tested the contingency relationship between strategy and structure proposed by Chandler and others with hypotheses linking the probability, timing, and magnitude of changes in one attribute to changes in the other attribute. 摘要:This research combined meta-analytic and narrative review methods in an effort to assess the influence of group goals on group performance. The meta-analytic review revealed a strong group goal effect. The narrative review discusses the generalizability of the group goal effect and provides suggestions for designing future group goal-setting research.

摘要:Employing concepts of lateral and longitudinal learning, we examined the dissolution of 462 expansions of Dutch firms, both acquisitions and new ventures. We interpreted the endurance of an expansion as reflecting success. Results show that expansions were more persistent when related to a firm's core skills, fully owned, and the result of acquisition rather than internal development. Expansions were also likely to last longer if a firm's prior diversification activity level was high.

摘要:This study investigated the association of organizational characteristics with the percentage of management positions held by women in a group of medium-sized to large private sector workplaces. Results support hypotheses derived from resource dependence and institutional theories and illustrate that characteristics of organizations predict a substantial portion of the variation in the percentage of management positions filled by women across industries. 摘要:We challenge the claimed incommensurability of individualism and structuralism by showing how a cognitive theory can guide the use of structural methods. According to balance theory, there is a strain toward cognitive balance in observers' perceptions of friendship relations. 摘要:Taking a different tack from previous work on the performance effects of''M-form'' adoption, this study examined performance deterioration during reorganization periods and the subsequent time required for performance to recover to prereorganization levels. Prior strategy and implementation speed were found to affect both transition performance and recovery time.
