摘要:Investor relations departments are diffusing rapidly among U.S. firms, and these new boundary-spanning units are likely to affect corporate governance and management. This article suggests that anti-management resolutions, monitoring by independent financial analysts, and mimetic influences are hastening the diffusion of this structural innovation.

摘要:What are we to make of the corporate penchant for downsizing during periods of rising profits? Are the firms doing this adapting to a global economy, cashing out social capital, or just sporting a faddish managerial innovation? This paper suggests why U.S. firms might downsize, illustrated by examples from the 1980s and 1990s.

摘要:This is a careful and insightful case study of how the Toyota Production System manages the paradox of efficiency and flexibility, which arises periodically in connection with model changeovers. The authors detail the functioning of four organizational mechanisms-metaroutines, partitioning, switching, and ambidexterity. However, of particular interest is the contextual reinforcing role of training and trust in administrative structures, procedures, and rules.

摘要:This paper is exciting because it synthesizes several theoretical perspectives into an integrative model and addresses a very significant topic-mergers and acquisitions-with a sharp eye towards clear managerial relevance and with innovative methods. I expect it to become a defining paper in M&A research.

摘要:In a study of how an R&D group in a Japanese firm adopted and used a new electronic medium, we identified two contrasting patterns of use: the use of community-wide communication types, or genres, deliberately shaped by the action of a small, sanctioned group of mediators; and the use of local genres tacitly shaped by members within their own research teams.
