摘要:We examine the evolution of a new population of organizations (state offices of dispute resolution) in an emerging institutional field, focusing on how actions at multiple levels interact recursively to enable multiple logics to diffuse. 摘要:We examine the relationship between multimarket contact and service quality. We offer two hypotheses: (1) multimarket contact negatively affects service quality and (2) multimarket contacts in less competitive markets more negatively affect service quality. We test these hypotheses using U.S. airline on-time performance data to measure service quality. 摘要:Alliance portfolios are ubiquitous and influential for firm performance. Extant research addresses attributes of high-performing alliance portfolios but not how executives originate such portfolios. 摘要:We study the relationship between sales assistant turnover and labor productivity in 325 stores of a large U.K. clothing retailer tracked over 1995-99. We find that the turnover-productivity relationship is contingent on type of work system. For a large group of part-timers, managed under a secondary work system, the relationship clearly has an inverted U-shape, but for the smaller group of full-timers, managed under a commitment system, the relationship is the conventional negative one. 摘要:This article explores why engineering students are committed to counterproductive practices. Student informants' work practices appeared to coincide with lay stereotypes about what good engineers do, and they sought to justify those practices as rational. 摘要:In this study, we formulated and tested a theory about how heterogeneity among subpopulations affects the degree to which organizations in these subpopulations contribute to and benefit from the overall population's legitimacy. 摘要:The aim of this study is to illuminate reputational change processes and identify the underlying theoretical mechanisms. We draw upon extant literature to develop three distinct explanations for reputational change, respectively emphasizing criteria of organizational character, symbolic conformity, and technical efficacy.
