摘要:Scholars of public organizations have begun to emphasize emotional labor in studies of gender in the workplace, finding that the skills women bring to organizations are often overlooked and undercompensated even though they play a vital role in the organization. 摘要:This article addresses perceived deficiencies in the study of representative bureaucracy by explaining and classifying the sources of passive representations substantive effects. This classification is used to clarify existing empirical research and normative thinking on active representation. 摘要:This paper offers practical insights for public managers as they work within interorganizational networks. It is based on the author empirical study of 14 networks involving federal, state, and local government managers working with nongovernmental organizations. The findings suggest that networks are hardly crowding out the role of public agencies; though they are limited in their decision scope, they can add collaborative public value when approaching nettlesome policy and program problems.
