摘要:We develop theory to explain how CEOs' observable personality traits influence market perceptions of firm risk and shareholder returns. Using a linguistic tool to measure nearly 3,000 CEOs' personality traits, we find that CEOs' observed levels of conscientiousness, neuroticism, and extraversion have important consequences for the perceived riskiness of the firm, as reflected in stock volatility. 摘要:Research has shown that family motivation exerts an energizing effect on employee performance. Challenging this, we argue that family motivation is a double-edged sword with both an energizing and a debilitating effect on employee performance, depending on the performance criterion in question. 摘要:In this study, we examine new CEOs' social influence behaviors in leadership transition periods. Taking charge is challenging for new CEOs, particularly when (a) predecessor CEOs stay on as board chairs, or (b) the stock market reacts negatively to new CEO appointments. 摘要:We draw upon relational demography and social identity perspectives to argue that working with teammates who are dissimilar in pay grade can help individual team members reduce social uncertainty in their work relationships within the team, subsequently influencing their identification with the team, performance, and turnover intention.
