摘要:Transposon-encoded tnpB and iscB genes encode RNA-guided DNA nucleases that promote their own selfish spread through targeted DNA cleavage and homologous recombination(1-4). These widespread gene families were repeatedly domesticated over evolutionary timescales, leading to the emergence of diverse CRISPR-associated nucleases including Cas9 and Cas12 (refs. (5,6)). 摘要:Amyloid-beta peptides and tau proteins form filaments in the brain in Alzheimer's disease. Using an electron microscopy approach to visualize thin slices of brain tissue in 3D, these filaments can be seen in their native environment.

摘要:The vast majority of glycosidases characterized to date follow one of the variations of the 'Koshland' mechanisms(1) to hydrolyse glycosidic bonds through substitution reactions. Here we describe a large-scale screen of a human gut microbiome metagenomic library using an assay that selectively identifies non-Koshland glycosidase activities(2). 摘要:Efforts to unveil the structure of the local interstellar medium and its recent star-formation history have spanned the past 70 years (refs. 1-6). Recent studies using precise data from space astrometry missions have revealed nearby, newly formed star clusters with connected origins7-12.
