摘要:The authors have undertaken an impressive retrospective analysis of the impacts of computer-based decision conferences on organizational decision making. Much research attention has been given to design and evaluation of decision conferences and other group decision support systems, but this is the first study to examine the long-term impacts of using computer-based procedures for strategic-level organizational decision making. The authors' methodology is innovative and the findings insightful.

摘要:Many fear that electronic communication may be less rich in social cues and, therefore, dehumanize organizations. Walther's analysis and controlled study show that electronic communication can promote some surprising, positive relational communication between people. His approach to experimenting with relational communication and his method for coding the results will be most interesting to the reader.

摘要:This paper explores the paradoxes and competing values inherent in leadership behavior. Scales for eight leadership roles are developed, providing empirical data about 176 executives. The article contributes to the theoretical understanding of the paradoxes of leadership and introduces the concept of behavioral complexity to understand leader behavior and integrate theoretical findings in the leadership literature.

摘要:Japans economic success since World War II has been striking. Modern Japan was the first major industrial economy to emerge from outside the Western tradition. Economically devastated in 1945, by 1990 Japan had the world's second largest economy and a GDP per head 20 percent greater than that of the United States. 摘要:This paper uses case studies and survey data to explore the relationship between organizational culture and effectiveness. The results provide evidence for the existence of four cultural traits-involvement, consistency, adaptability, and mission-and indicate that these characteristics are positively related to perceptions of performance as well as to objective measures such as return on assets and sales growth.
