摘要:The distribution function of a simple transformation of the range of a sample from a normal population is expressible, in the limit, in terms of the first order Bessel function. An upper limit for differences between the distribution functions for finite samples and the limiting case is given.

摘要:A person counts the occurrences of an event per trial until m successes have occurred and designates the ratio x = m/n, where n is the total number of events. This article proves that an unbiased estimate of the frequency of x is m[long dash]1/n[long dash]1 and that its variance is approx. equal to m(n[long dash]m)/n2(n[long dash]1).

He discusses the estimation of a ranking and shows how to make tests of significance for n rankings by using the z-test under certain conditions.
