Seven puerperal patients whose uteri could be felt were chosen, and 6 unpracticed observers measured each uterus twice, the interval between measurements being about 15 mins. An analysis of variance, carried out on these measurements, showed that there were significant differences between patients, observers, readings, the interaction patients-observers, and the interaction observers-readings. Three more sets of patients were measured by practiced observers. Analyses of variances, carried out on these measurements, revealed significant differences between various avgs. The author shows how to determine the expt. error for testing for significance.
