摘要:This article provides a new unified framework for second-moment stability of discrete-time linear systems with stochastic dynamics. Relations of notions of second-moment stability are studied for systems with general stochastic dynamics, and associated Lyapunov inequalities are derived. The system dynamics may depend on any type of stochastic process in our framework. Our results for the unified framework can immediately lead us to more specific and tractable stability conditions when the unde...

摘要:Finite-field networks (FFNs) are an effective type of models to characterize the multiagent systems with limited computation, communication, and memory capabilities. In this article, we term the FFNs, which switch among a collection of modes with respect to an independently and identically distributed process, as the stochastic FFNs (SFFNs). Subsequently, the concepts of asymptotic synchronization with probability one (asymptotic SPO), finite-time SPO, and fixed-time SPO of SFFNs are, respecti...

摘要:In this article, we describe an approximate dynamic programming (ADP) approach to compute lower bounds on the optimal value function for a discrete time, continuous space, and infinite horizon setting. The approach iteratively constructs a family of lower bounding approximate value functions by using the so-called Bellman inequality. The novelty of our approach is that, at each iteration, we aim to compute an approximate value function that maximizes the point-wise maximum taken with the famil...

摘要:This article studies controllability of a discrete-time linear dynamical system using nonnegative and sparse inputs. These constraints on the control input arise naturally in many real-life systems, where the external influence on the system is unidirectional, and activating each input node adds to the cost of control. We derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the controllability of the system, without imposing any constraints on the system matrices. Unlike the straightforward exte...

摘要:Motivated by vibration control of a mining cable elevator avoiding frequent actions of a massive actuator, which is a hydraulic cylinder driving a head sheave, we present an event-triggered output-feedback backstepping boundary controller for 2 x 2 coupled hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) sandwiched by two ordinary differential equations (ODEs), through a two-step design including an output-feedback low-pass-filter-based backstepping boundary stabilization law and the subsequen...

摘要:This article is concerned with the output-feedback tracking control problem for a class of nonlinear systems. The challenge lies in how to drive the tracking error to a prescribed region in a given time globally, under both unknown nonlinear functions and unknown virtual control coefficients. To deal with the unknown control direction, an orientation function is exploited in lieu of the Nussbaum gain technique, the supervisory switching strategy, and the parameter estimation approach. To attai...

摘要:This article provides a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the role of interconnection directionality in a general class of quadratic performance metrics for double-integrator networks. We first develop an analysis framework that can be used to evaluate the quadratic performance metrics of networks defined over a general class of directed graphs. A comparison between systems whose directed graph Laplacians are normal and their undirected counterparts unveils an interplay between the in...

摘要:A new transformation that converts a Bayesian game to a so-called ex-ante agent game (a normal-form game) is proposed. Differently from the existing transformation proposed by R. Selten that changes a Bayesian game to an interim agent game (also a pure normal-form game), we prove that the new transformation preserves potentiality. In addition, there is a nonpotential Bayesian game whose ex-ante agent game is potential. We also prove that there is one-to-one correspondence between pure Bayesian...

摘要:Theorem 4.1 in the 2011 paper A Framework for Control System Design Subject to Average Data-Rate Constraints allows one to lower bound average operational data rates in feedback loops (including the situation in which encoder and decoder have side information). Unfortunately, its proof is invalid. In this note, we first state the theorem and explain why its proof is flawed, and then provide a correct proof under weaker assumptions.

摘要:In this article, we present a continuation method, which transforms spatially distributed ordinary differential equation (ODE) systems into a continuous partial differential equation (PDE). We show that this continuation can be performed for both linear and nonlinear systems, including multidimensional, space-varying, and time-varying systems. When applied to a large-scale network, the continuation provides a PDE describing the evolution of a continuous-state approximation that respects the sp...
