摘要：We evaluate the impacts of a randomised job fair intervention in which jobseekers and employers can meet at low cost. The intervention generates few hires, but it lowers participants' expectations and causes both firms and workers to invest more in search as predicted by a theoretical model; this improves employment outcomes for less educated jobseekers. Through a unique two-sided belief-elicitation survey, we confirm that firms and jobseekers have overoptimistic expectations about the market....

摘要：This paper highlights the criminogenic consequence of the remarkable slowdown in China's exports in recent years. By applying textual analysis to millions of judgement documents from all levels of courts in China, we construct measures of crime rates that vary across cities over time. Our estimations, using a shift-share instrumental variable, reveal a higher increase in crime rates in cities that experience a more severe export slowdown. 摘要：Recent theoretical and empirical work characterises attention as a costly resource that decision-makers allocate strategically. There has been less research on the dynamic interdependence of attention: how paying attention now may affect performance later. 摘要：This article shows that a four-year mindset intervention in disadvantaged middle schools led to a 0.05-standard-deviation increase in grade point average, associated with more optimistic beliefs, more self-criticism and improved school behaviour. 摘要：We study how the admission of an older schoolmate to an elite secondary school influences the application decisions and admission outcomes of younger students. 摘要：How does access to public education affect occupational outcomes and intergenerational mobility? The UK's 1870 Education Act, which introduced a public education system in England and Wales, provides a unique historical context in which to explore these questions. 摘要：We study how variations in two mental capabilities-analytical capability (quantitative reasoning) and mentalising (assessing others' behaviour)-drive heterogeneity in evaluations of identical information about an asset's fundamental value and past prices. 摘要：During his pontificate from 1979 until 2005, Pope John Paul II visited 130 countries, more than the 263 popes before him combined. I document a significant increase in exports to trading partners with a relatively high share of Catholics following a pastoral visit, leading to a non-negligible increase in aggregate exports. 摘要：Countries around the world are enacting climate policies such as coal phase-outs, aviation taxes and renewable energy support. These policies often overlap with a wider multi-jurisdictional carbon-pricing system like the EU's Emissions Trading System.
