摘要：The portfolio balance channel for sterilised intervention is tested by examining the effects of changes in relative asset supplies on the dollar-Deutschemark rate during the 1980s. In contrast to previous studies. we control for any signalling effects of central bank intervention and find a weak, but statistically significant, portfolio balance influence on the exchange rate.

摘要：Import-competing industries in many democracies can pursue import relief via administered protection (AP) procedures or can lobby politicians directly. In this paper an industry chooses the option that maximizes expected profits. Both the AP and lobbying processes require a fixed resource cost and have an associated subjective probability of success. 摘要：This paper investigates optimum North-South tariffs by taking into consideration the fact that tariffs serve mainly as trade policy in the North, but serve as revenue policy as well as trade policy in the South. 摘要：This paper presents an analysis of the effects of market structure on the propensity of firms to dump goods. The analysis of Brander and Krugman is extended to show that in the presence of transportation costs, bilateral intra-industry trade is not possible without dumping. Contrary to the conventional wisdom, this paper finds that firms in markets with a large number of domestic competitors are more prone to dump unilaterally than firms in less competitive markets.
