摘要:Using the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID), we test Costa and Kahn's colocation hypothesis, which predicts that power couples-couples in which both spouses have college degrees-are more likely to migrate to the largest cities than part-power couples or power singles. We find no support for this hypothesis. 摘要:Using March Current Population Survey data, we investigate married women's labor supply from 1980 to 2000. We find a large rightward shift in their labor supply function for annual hours in the 1980s, with little shift in the 1990s. These shifts account for most of the slowdown in the growth of labor supply during this period. 摘要:We provide both a theoretical and empirical analysis of the relation between administrative and survey data. By distinguishing between different sources of deviations between survey and administrative data we are able to reproduce several stylized facts. We illustrate the implications of different error sources for estimation in (simple) econometric models and find potentially very substantial biases. 摘要:This article examines the effect of product market competition on firms' willingness to pay for workers of different skills. 摘要:The article embeds child labor in a standard general equilibrium, two-sector model of a small open economy facing perfectly competitive markets, efficiency wages, and free trade. The modern sector uses skilled adult labor and capital, and the agrarian sector uses unskilled (child and adult) labor and skilled adult labor.
