摘要：The role of the sample selection mechanism in a model-based approach to finite population inference is examined. When the data analyst has only partial information on the sample design then a design which is ignorable when known fully may become informative. Conditions under which partially known designs can be ignored are established and examined for some standard designs. The results are illustrated by an example used by Scott (1977).

摘要：Optimal upper bounds are obtained for the distributions of 2 functions of the m-r smallest latent roots of HE-1, where E and H have Wishart distributions with identical covariance matrices; E has a central distribution while H has a noncentral distribution with unknown noncentrality matrix .DELTA. of rank r. These bounds are then used to investigate the chi-squared approximation for some test criteria used in tests of dimensionality. This mathematical model can be used in population studies.

摘要：The large-sample joint distribution of Z, the 1/2p(p-1) Fisher z-transforms of the elements in a p variable correlation matrix was studied. Under the null hypothesis of equal population correlations the variance matrix of Z has just 3 projector matrices in its spectral decomposition. 摘要：Equicorrelated binary observations are modeled using a multivariate probit regression model. Log likelihood derivatives are reduced to simple linear combinations of equicorrelated multivariate normal probabilities, which are approximated using the method of Mendell and Elston (1974). A data set with overdispersion illustrates the use of this model. This model was used to investigate chromosomal aberrations in humans exposed to radiation.

摘要：When a sequence of extreme values of a physical process was observed it is often of interest to test whether the observations are distributed according to a type I Fisher-Tippett extreme-value distribution rather than one of types II or III.
