摘要:We prove the Plancherel formula for spherical Schwartz functions on a reductive symmetric space. Our starting point is an inversion formula for spherical smooth compactly supported functions. The latter formula was earlier obtained from the most continuous part of the Plancherel formula by means of a residue calculus. In the course of the present paper we also obtain new proofs of the uniform tempered estimates for normalized Eisenstein integrals and of the Maass-Selberg relations satisfied by...

摘要:The isometry group of a compact n-dimensional hyperbolic manifold is known to be finite. We show that for every n >= 2, every finite group is realized as the full isometry group of some compact hyperbolic n-manifold. The cases n=2 and n=3 have been proven by Greenberg (1974) and Kojima (1988), respectively. Our proof is non constructive: it uses counting results from subgroup growth theory to show that such manifolds exist.

摘要:In this article we construct a new simply connected symplectic 4-manifold with b(2)(+) = 1 and c(1)(2) = 2 which is homeomorphic, but not diffeomorphic, to a rational surface by using rational blow-down technique. As a corollary, we conclude that a rational surface CP2#7 (CP) over bar (2) admits an exotic smooth structure.

摘要:We introduce a version of Voiculescu-Brown approximation entropy for isometric automorphisms of Banach spaces and develop within this framework the connection between dynamics and the local theory of Banach spaces as discovered by Glasner and Weiss. Our fundamental result concerning this contractive approximation entropy, or CA entropy, characterizes the occurrence of positive values both geometrically and topologically. 摘要:We give examples of families of hypersurface singularities with constant Le numbers, constant Milnor fibration and non-constant topological type, answering negatively a question of D. Massey. On the other hand we prove that the constancy of the Le numbers implies that the homotopy type of the link is constant along the family. 摘要:We obtain the Plancherel decomposition for a reductive symmetric space in the sense of representation theory. Our starting point is the Plancherel formula for spherical Schwartz functions, obtained in part I. The formula for Schwartz functions involves Eisenstein integrals obtained by a residual calculus. In the present paper we identify these integrals as matrix coefficients of the generalized principal series.

摘要:Let f : X --> X be a homeomorphism of the compact metric space X. A symbolic extension of ( f, X) is a subshift on a finite alphabet ( g, Y) which has f as a topological factor.
