摘要:After correction for age, head breadth, head length, and cephalic index of 1700 females are correlated with reaction time to sound and to sight. Correlation of head breadth and reaction time to sound, r = - .079 [plus or minus] .016. Other correlations are not significant. Means and standard deviations of head breadth and head length by age are given.

摘要:The regression of the variance, [sigma]2, on the mean in samples from a population with any distribution is adequately represented by a 2nd order parabola. A method of testing whether a sample is likely to be from a population of known distribution is derived. One must be very cautious in drawing conclusions from Student''s test, if there be no good reason for supposing that the original frequency distribution is normal..

摘要:From the history of the site, the crania are of 17th century Londoners. Measurements were those taken by previous workers in Biometric Laboratory. Anomalies noted are discussed. The crania are similar to those of 17th century Londoners measured by Macdonell, all showing low retreating foreheads, and fairly similar to Lowland Scottish, but differ markedly from medieval Hythe and Rothwell crania. Regression formulae are given to estimate cranial capacity from the product of length, breadth, and ...

摘要:In late Neolithic times a homogeneous dolichocephalic race inhabited England and Scotland. The Bronze Age population included 3 elements: (1) a predominant brachy-cephalic type, (2) the Neolithic type, (3) hybrids between (1) and (2). The Iron Age population was homogeneous and intermediate. In England the late Celtic culture is not associated with a brachycephalic type. The Anglo-Saxon skulls show no evidence of differentiation into Angles, Saxons, and Jutes. They differ from the Iron Age typ...

摘要:General formulae are derived for the coefficients of an nth order parabolic regression line, and for the nth correlation ratio, Hn , connected with the nth parabola of regression as the correlation ratio n is connected with the actual regression line. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the actual regression line to be represented by an nth order parabola are also given.
