摘要：In life testing suppose that the units under test can fail due to 1 of several competing risks. The estimation of parameters in such compound models is briefly discussed. Bayesian predictive distributions and probabilities are derived for such situations, and the predictions obtained are compared with some of the classical analogs.

摘要：In the usual 2-sample problem one is estimating the constant additive effect of a treatment or the additive constant by which 2 random variables differ. If the treatment-effect may depend on the response level, then a more general approach to 2-sample problems seems appropriate. A treatment-effect function t is defined and distribution-free confidence bounds for the function t are characterized in the case where t has specified parametric forms and in the case where t is not parameterized.

摘要：Several procedures are suggested for estimating the mean difference from correlated data with missing observations on 1 response. Monte Carlo studies show that a statistic due to Morrison is to be preferred, unless there is a large variance difference.

摘要：A method is described for constructing nonparametric tests for experiments arranged in blocks when the underlying distributions are of Lehmann''s form. In simple cases the resulting test statistics are those that would be obtained by an analysis of variance following a transformation of the data into exponential scores.

摘要：This paper describes an algorithm for constructing resolvable incomplete block designs for any number of varieties v and block size k such that v is a multiple of k. These designs are called .alpha.-designs. They include as special cases some lattice and resolvable cyclic designs. Additional designs with 2 block sizes differing by 1 plot are derived by omitting 1 or more varieties of the .alpha.-designs. The designs are available with high efficiency factors for a wide range of parameter values.

摘要：Suppose that a group of animals moves from an unknown location to a particular area. Their migration cannot be seen, but at each spot of this particular area it is possible to estimate the arrival time of the animals by continual observation. Designs for allocating the observation stations to obtain a desirable estimate of the direction angle along which the animals move into this area are discussed.
