摘要:The analysis for a standard linear regression model is extended to the case of data randomly censored on the right. The slope and intercept estimators are weighted linear combinations of the uncensored observations where the weights are derived from the Kaplan-Meier product-limit estimator of a distribution function. Some distribution theory for the slope estimator is given. For illustration the estimators are applied to the Stanford heart transplant data.

摘要:In the human body, cells are all the time dividing and reproducing. Williams et Bjerknes suggested a model for the growth of abnormal cells in a plane. Abnormal cells are assumed to divide k times faster than normal cells. In this paper an unbiased minimum variance estimator of k is obtained and the estimates obtained from simulated growths are compared with the actual values. A method of estimating k from the crinkliness of a growth, as suggested by Mollison, is also considered.

摘要:An extension of the kernel method of density estimation from continuous to multivariate binary spaces is described. Its simple nonparametric nature together with its consistency properties make it an attractive tool in discrimination problems, with some advantages over already proposed parametric counterparts. 摘要:A group testing model with the presence of a dilution effect was studied. Namely, a group containing a few defective items may possibly be misidentified as a group containing no such items, especially when the size of the group is large. When such misidentification happens, a loss is incurred. 摘要:Estimators for the density of points in a plane may be unbiased for the spatial pattern for which they were designed but are usually biased for most others. Two new estimators are proposed which are approximately unbiased for a wide range of patterns, and are used on data in the form of the positions of the centers of trees in a forest stand.
