摘要:A procedure is proposed for estimating a parameter of an epidemic model from [measles] household data. The procedure is essentially a method of moments for martingales. It is computationally convenient and is less restrictive in its model assumptions than the maximum likelihood methods previously used. The approach is illustrated and is useful when households contain susceptibles of different types.

摘要:Design problems associated with estimating response probabilities in low dose carcinogen experiments are considered. Optimal designs are developed for a specific class of models and examples are used to investigate the potential gains that may result from their use. Their robustness with respect to the prior information needed for their construction is considered. An algorithm for producing the required optimal design is presented.

摘要:A common estimator for comparing mortality rates in epidemiological studies, the time on trial or person years at risk estimator, is based on failure times with an underlying exponential distribution.
