摘要:Health information exchanges (HIEs) are expected to improve poor information coordination in emergency departments (EDs); however, whether and when HIEs are associated with better operational outcomes remains poorly understood. In this work, we study HIE and length of stay (LOS) relationship using a large dataset from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project consisting of about 7.4 million treat-and-release visits made to 63 EDs in Massachusetts. 摘要:We solve a variation of a classic make-to-stock inventory problem introduced by Gavish and Graves. A machine is dedicated to a single product whose demand follows a stationary Poisson distribution. When the machine is on, items are produced one at a time at a fixed rate and placed into finished-goods inventory until they are sold. 摘要:This paper studies how to design service outsourcing contracts to ensure fast, quality services from an independent service provider. The outsourcer does not have perfect information about the service provider's capacity cost (i.e., cost of providing fast service) and quality cost (i.e., cost of achieving a high quality level). 摘要:This paper develops a dyadic supply chain model with one buyer who contracts the manufacturing of a new product to a supplier. Due to the lack of experience in manufacturing, the extent of supply risk is unknown to both the buyer and supplier before the time of contract. 摘要:We consider a decentralized supply chain (DSC) under resale price maintenance (RPM) selling a limited-lifetime product to forward-looking customers with heterogeneous valuations. When customers do not know the inventory level, double marginalization under RPM leads to a higher profit and aggregate welfare than without RPM under a two-part tariff contract (TT).
