摘要：In this article we document a reversal of fortune within the Western agricultural core, showing that regions which made early transition to Neolithic agriculture are now poorer than regions that made the transition later. The finding contrasts recent influential works emphasizing the beneficial role of early transition. 摘要：We examine shifts in British income inequality and their causes from 1911-1949. Using newly rediscovered Inland Revenue income distribution estimates, we show that Britain had an unusually high concentration of personal incomes in 1911 compared to other industrial nations. We also find that Britain's substantial inequality reduction over the next four decades was largely driven by a collapse in top capital incomes. 摘要：To better understand the historical gender wage gap, we investigate the wages of Swedish compositors circa 1900 using a rich data set of matched employer-employee information with national coverage. In line with previous findings, women earned about 70 percent of men's wages on average. Individual and job characteristics explain much of this shortfall. 摘要：This paper uses an unexpected trade disruption due to World War I to study how a temporary reduction of imports affects the entry of industrial firms. I construct a new transportation network to capture counties' exposure to this trade shock and compile panel data to examine the impact on China's manufactured textile industry.
