摘要:
Oh, now I get it, my colleague said. That's why you put so much effort into your exams. Over lunch with a fellow faculty member, I had been sharing the struggles I experienced years ago as a student with exam anxiety. Her comment surprised me a bit. But it got me thinking about why, since starting out as a professor 7 years ago, I have prioritized easing my students' nervousness before exams. I realized she probably had a point: My experiences as a student helped me understand what I could do as a professor to make my oral exams as transparent, fair, and inclusive as possible. It takes some extra work, but it's worth the effort.
