摘要：This paper describes the bias encountered and the steps to eliminate it in a recent study of fertility in selected areas of Syracuse, New York. The original number of families visited was 1,564 and the final number was 2,890. The pitfalls discussed are failure to re-visit homes which are missed during the first canvass and the omission of secondary families, i.e., those represented by resident married individuals other than heads and wives.
