摘要：Expropriation risk has a binding effect on foreign direct investment (FDI). However, state-owned multinational corporations may counter the monopoly power of the host state by leveraging the political influence of their home government. 摘要：This paper extends signaling theory to the study of firms' international alliances. 摘要：This article examines how spatial geography influences firms' choice of control in cross-border acquisitions (CBAs). Building our arguments on the information asymmetry in CBAs, we argue that geographic distance affects adverse selection and moral hazard problems in CBAs. 摘要：In this retrospective, we revisit the goals of the original paper, and we review the studies that have used our paper to discuss the concept and the development of absorptive capacity. We also propose directions for future research, stressing the need to develop thorough theoretical and empirical models of absorptive capacity as a multi-level and dynamic construct that is contingent on the context in which it is embedded.
