摘要:Research Summary Previous literature has documented a large short-term earnings gap for entrepreneurs that return to the wage sector. Using matched employer-employee data from the Belgian Labor Market & Social Protection Database, we document how this initial gap is remarkably persistent. Former entrepreneurs earn 27% less than propensity-scored matched controls 5 years after returning to wage work, which is almost unchanged from the short-term earnings drop. 摘要:Research Summary Building on social psychology research and entrepreneurship work on linguistic framing, we argue that the appreciation of novel ideas varies with the mental construal that members of different audiences use to evaluate them. 摘要:Research Summary: Agency perspectives suggest long-tenured independent directors (LTIDs) may be cronies of the CEO, making their boards less effective, but we theorize that LTIDs may have particular expertise and motivation to improve board effectiveness and ultimately firm performance.
