WASHINGTON, August 3, 2026 — Donor and borrower country representatives of the World Bank Group (WBG) International Development Association (IDA) have selected Dr. Sri Mulyani Indrawati of Indonesia as Independent Co-Chair of IDA's twenty-second replenishment (IDA22). In this role, she will champion stronger policy and financial support for IDA22 across donor and borrower countries.
Dr. Indrawati will co-chair the IDA22 replenishment process alongside Paschal Donohoe, the WBG Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer. She was selected to this position from a shortlist of candidates by a search committee comprising donor and borrower constituencies.
IDA replenishment meetings typically occur once every three years to gather new funds for IDA, the World Bank Group’s fund for the poorest countries, and for partners to review IDA’s policies. Since IDA18, IDA replenishment meetings have had two co-chairs, comprising an independent eminent person with adequate knowledge of multilateral development banks, and a high-level representative of the WBG appointed by the President of the institution.
Dr. Indrawati is one of the world's most experienced voices in international development finance. She is currently a Blavatnik World Leaders Fellow 2025-26 at the University of Oxford. She has served as Indonesia's first female Minister of Finance and as the WBG's Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, bringing deep expertise in both development policy and multilateral finance. She has also been recognized on Forbes’ list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

The IDA22 replenishment cycle will be formally launched at the Mid-Term Review in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in December 2026, with the final pledging meeting expected in December 2027. IDA22 will determine the scale of concessional financing available to 78 countries through 2031.
