On June 20, HSE University begins accepting applications for the new Bachelor's Programme in Technology Innovation Management at the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The programme aims to train specialists capable of managing technology projects at every stage, from testing ideas and validating hypotheses to implementing solutions and bringing products to market.
Today, technology projects require not only strong engineering expertise but also an understanding of product economics, user needs, implementation processes, and scaling strategies. Without this integration, even the most promising scientific or engineering ideas may never progress beyond the development stage to achieve real-world impact.

'Russia is investing heavily in technological development today. However, there is still a significant gap between creating a solution and successfully implementing it. Technology alone is not enough. We need people who can take a project through its entire lifecycle—from an initial idea to a practical, real-world outcome,' says Tatiana Stroganova, Director of the HSE School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Here, such specialists are viewed as innovation integrators. They are professionals who understand the scientific and technological foundations of a project, recognise its market potential, and can work effectively with teams, test hypotheses, and align technology, production, business objectives, and user needs.

'Most educational programmes train either engineers or managers. However, innovation-focused projects rarely fit into a single professional role. We proceeded from the premise that it is important for future specialists to understand the entire process of product creation—from the emergence of a new technology to its implementation and the launch of a product on the market. Therefore, the programme is structured around the logic of a real innovation project,' says Ural Ibragimov, Academic Supervisor of the programme.
Students will learn the fundamentals of modern technology, the economics of innovation, data analysis, systems engineering, artificial intelligence tools, project management, entrepreneurship, and the mechanisms for commercialising high-tech developments.
The practical component of the programme involves project-based work. Students will have the opportunity to test hypotheses, develop prototypes, collaborate with industry partners, and work on their own projects. One possible format for the final thesis is the creation of a startup.
Graduates of the programme will be able to work in technology companies, industrial corporations, research centres, engineering departments, corporate accelerators, consulting firms, startups, and digital transformation teams. Possible areas of employment include developing new products, launching innovative projects, implementing digital solutions, commercialising R&D, and managing the technological development of organisations.
In 2026, the programme offers five state-funded places, 90 fee-paying places, and two fee-paying places for international applicants. The duration of study is four years.
