Jakarta, 31 March 2026 — The 7th Meeting of the ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership Committee (AC‑DPC) was convened today at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. Representatives from ASEAN and Chile met to review progress in the implementation of the Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA) for ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership and discussed new possible areas for deepening cooperation.
During the Meeting, both sides noted continued advancement across several areas under the PCA, including trade and investment, food, agriculture, and forestry, and energy cooperation. With the PCA further extended by one year until the end of 2027, the Meeting underscored the importance of accelerating implementation efforts to maximise progress in the remaining timeframe. Recognising the current global situation which causes economic challenges, the Meeting emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation including drawing on the advantages of each sides, to build resilient, sustainable and diversified supply chains, accelerate green and digital transformation, and advance economic integration to collectively overcome the challenges.
ASEAN and Chile reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration in key areas such as good governance, digital economy, and mineral cooperation. The Meeting also encouraged further exploration of cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen, environment and climate change, disaster management, public health, micro, small and medium enterprises, marine resources and fisheries, science, technology and innovation, tourism, gender equality, education, youth, and sports. Both sides reiterated the importance of enhancing cooperation under the priority areas of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo‑Pacific (AOIP).
The Meeting took note of Chile’s application to accede to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) and welcomed Chile’s continued interest in strengthening economic linkages with ASEAN, including the establishment of the ASEAN-Chile Business Council which presents a significant milestone in ASEAN-Chile relations.
The Meeting was co‑chaired by H.E. Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary‑General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community, and H.E. Mario Ignacio Artaza, Ambassador of Chile to ASEAN. It was attended by the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN or their representatives, officials from the Embassy of Chile in Indonesia, and representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat.
