The Roscongress Foundation has taken part in a meeting of the Khakimov Club in honour of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The event, supported by the Roscongress International platform, focused on developing the Saudi-Russian dialogue and expanding interaction between the expert and business communities of the two countries.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Khakimov Club and Ambassador Extraordinary Oleg Ozerov noted that the Roscongress Foundation is a recognized leader in convention and exhibition activities in Russia and a major organizer of international business events. He also mentioned that the Foundation is consistently developing the international agenda, including through bilateral and multilateral events, citing the Saudi-Russian Investment and Business Forum held this past December on the sidelines of the meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Saudi-Russian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation in Riyadh as an example, as well as Roscongress’s role in organizing summits with the participation of heads of state, including Russia–Africa events.
Particular attention was paid during the meeting to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“The Roscongress Foundation is the organizer of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be a guest country at this year’s Forum, opening new horizons for developing a substantive dialogue between the business communities of our countries, representatives of which are present here today. We are planning to organize a series of Khakimov Club events on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. I invite you to take an active part in them, and in the Forum itself. Don’t miss the chance to become part of Russia’s most important economic forum,” Oleg Ozerov stressed.
The meeting of the Khakimov Club was attended by diplomats of Arab and African states accredited in Moscow, deputies of the State Duma and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), and Russian regions. The event was also attended by experts in Asian and Islamic studies, representatives of the clergy, public organizations, business circles, the financial sector, the media, and the Russian-Arab Youth Association.
The meeting also featured a presentation of the expanded edition of Oleg Ozerov’s monograph Karim Khakimov: A Chronicle of His Life.
