From the law of ancestral heredity the correlation between cousins is about 1/2, and the correlation of uncle and nephew about 70% of that of brothers. Pearson''s family records, however, show both cousinal and avuncular correlations of about 1/2 that of brothers, a result confirmed by Snow on mendelian grounds.
