摘要:
This is based on 123 Teita skulls and 15 from a cave near the Naishi River. Measurements and type contours are given. Each series is homogeneous. The Teita skulls are small, especially in calvarial breadth, dolichocephalic and phenozygous. The Naishi River series have greater calvarial breadths. On the basis of the coefficient of racial likeness the Negro and allied races for which measurements are available are divided into 3 groups: (a) Congo, Cameroons, Gaboon, Negroes from Egypt, Galla and Somali; (b) Kaffirs and Angoni; (c) Tanganyika, Teita, and Hottentots. However, no sharp distinction can be made between Western, Eastern and Southern Negro races. This grouping does not accord closely with the generally accepted classification nor with geographical position. The Tasmanians show a closer likeness to the Hottentots than to any other race. A high occipital index is not characteristic of all Negro races.
