The distributions of measurements of individual cranial bones are not of normal type, but are prevailingly leptokurtic and positively skew. This may follow from the failure of these measurements to be the product of many contributory causes. We thus reach the suggestive conception that the simpler the organ measured, the less likely we are to meet with normal distributions..
