The generalized variance, generalized correlation ratio, generalized 1[long dash][eta]2, generalized Student''s ratio, and generalized [lambda]-criterion for multivariate samples are denned, and their moments and distribution for samples from a normal population, as well as the moments and distribution of the ratio of independent generalized variances, of the ratio of the generalized variance to any of its principal minors, and of ratios of determinants of correlation coefficients, are derived.
