摘要:
The skeletons probably date from 1100-1600 A.D. The cephalic index (82.6) is distinctly higher than all other English mean values except the Spitalfields (79.4) and the Bronze Age crania (80.9), which are larger than the other two and probably not closely allied to them. The coefficient of racial likeness of the Hythe to the Spitalfields series is low, as are those with the modern populations of Bologna, Bohemia and Rumania. It is concluded that the Spitalfields crania are probably Roman and that the Hythe crania are of medieval descendants of the inhabitants of the port which is known to have been here in Roman times.
