Absenteeism recorded at 10 epochs in a weekly cycle in a day secondary school over a period of some 250,000 pupil-sessions at risk is used to obtain the Sickness Recovery Curve of the adolescent population (boys and girls) concerned. 2/3 of the children are fit within a day. By reversing the process the expected absences are detd. and some tendencies needing administrative attention noted. The method of utilizing the data is appropriate for any community recording absences in a comparable fashion. The total of absences is least for a definite number of censuses in any period if the censuses are equally spaced. The effect of the duration of the session is also noted.
