摘要:
The relatively higher mortality among [female][female] than among [male][male] in the rural districts, using the mortality rate of England and Wales as a whole as a standard, has been examined for the 2 triennia, 1920-2 and 1930-2, by geographical divisions, age and cause of death. The ratio of Expected/Actual deaths is greater among [female][female] for all geographical divisions and all ages over 15. The causes of death which contributed largely to this phenomenon seemed to be phthisis and cancer. An attempt was made to examine the effects of occupation and migration. Migration appears to be an influential factor but there is no difference between the [male] and [female] ratio Expected/Actual deaths when grouped by occupational divisions.
