摘要:
Two series of Chinese humeri, namely skeletal remains representing the Sui-T''ang dynasties (A.D. 581-8991) and modern Chinese of Hsiu Chiu Shan, south of Hsia Kuan, Nanking, were studied. 15 measurements and indices were taken. Means, S.D., and bilateral correlations were computed and compared with similar determinations of other sets of measurements. There are significant diffs. between means in some cases and none in others. Various conclusions are suggested. For the 11 measurements of size, the mean on the rt: side exceeds the corresponding mean on the left. Bilateral diffs. between means were found in the case of the 4 measurements of shape. The angle of torsion and caliber index have greater values on the rt. and the diaphysial and head indices have greater values on the left. All the [male] means are greater than corresponding ? means. No significant diffs. are found for the Hsiu Chiu Shan series between the corresponding [male] and [female] S.D. or between the bilateral correlations. Diffs. are found between Chinese and Lapps, Chinese and Norwegians. No example of the supracondyloid process was found in either of the Chinese series.
