摘要:
Under increasing pressure to demonstrate environmental responsibility, organizations realize that they cannot claim tobe environmentally sustainable if their supply chains are not. This researchseeks tounderstandhowaninterorganizational greenISinfluences environmental sustainability (ES)initiatives withinorganizationsinasupply chain. We examine agreenIStakingthe form of aninterorganizational ESplatform. Our analysissheds insights intohow role conflicts arisingfrom the various roles playedby the platform users compromisethe nature of actions associatedwithplatform beliefs.Inparticular, cooptitionconflict arisingfrom parti-cipants' roles as supplier tothe platform owner andcompetitortoother platform participantsexplainsthesymbolic organizational content contribution, whereas the professional conflict resulting from participants'roles as employee of an organizationandknowledge peer to participants from other organizations explainsthe substantive personal content contribution. The lack oforganizational substantive content creates contentpaucity, whichplatform users respondtoby developingoff-platform relationships withcontent contributors. The personal ESknowledge acquiredthroughplatform content consumptionandthe relationships withcontentcontributors help individuals advocate for ES initiatives withintheir organizations. Our research is among the first to consider green IS t an interorganizational level and the corresponding multilevel perspective of the green IS users as they are at once organizational and individual actors
